Essential Media announces Joint Venture with Quail TV for US lifestyle content
October 25, 2016: Essential is pleased to announce a joint venture deal with leading factual TV producer Quail Television that aims to become a powerhouse of lifestyle programming in the US market.
Essential Quail Television LLC (EQTV), the Los Angeles-based JV between Essential Media USA and Quail Television is led by Executive Producer partners Greg Quail (Quail TV), Jesse Fawcett (Essential Media USA) and Chris Hilton (Essential Media & Entertainment) and is already producing a raft of hit series for Scripps Network including DIY’s #1 show ‘Texas Flip N Move’, its two spin off shows ‘Louisiana Flip n Move’, ‘Alaska Flip n Move’, new 13 x 60’ restoration series ‘Restored’ as well as several new pilots for HGTV and DIY.
Quail TV has been a prolific independent TV producer in Australia over the years with numerous productions including ‘Real Top Guns’ for SBS, ‘Saving Babies’ and ‘Saving Kids’ for Network Ten and ‘Find My Family’ for Channel Seven and the multiple Banff Mountain Fest award-winning ‘Crossing the Ice’ for National Geographic Channel.
Essential Media USA will continue to develop scripted and unscripted projects outside the lifestyle programming genre.
The fast growing company has also announced a raft of new hires to bolster its production and development arms with industry veteran Joel Rizor joining as Chief Executive Producer and Lindsay Wilkinson as Executive in Charge of a newly recruited production department. In development former Essential Media USA and RTR Media Development Producer Paul Taylor has joined EQTV as Head of Development.
Paul’s credits include ‘Open House Overhaul’ (HGTV Canada), ‘Open Concept’ (HGTV US), ‘Big Easy Reno’ (HGTV US) and ‘Home Town’ (HGTV US). Prior to RTR, Paul developed shows for Essential Media Canada including ‘Panic Button’ (Space/Syfy), ‘Destination Fear' (Travel Channel), 'Fool’s Gold’ (Discovery Channel) and SyFy’s hidden camera prank comedy ‘Scare Tactics’. Also joining Paul are Lauren Kalb-Black as Head of Casting and Katelynn Walker as Director of Development.

An episode of EQTV’s ‘Texas Flip N Move’ recently rated 257 percent above the timeslot’s year-ago average among viewers P25-54. With more than 1 million viewers tuning in, it was the highest-rated episode of a DIY Network series since December 2014. The record-breaking performance on August 26 helped DIY Network finish the night as the 16th highest-rated cable network in prime among viewers P25-54. The fourth season of Texas Flip N Move is on pace to be the highest-rated season ever, posting a 30 percent ratings increase over its previous season.
